Purnendu Patree was an Indian Bengali poet, director and screenplay writer. He started his career by painting and writing in film magazine Chitrita and cultural magazine. In 1951, his first collection of poems was published. Patri was also known for his directing films and made his debut in 1966, 'Swapna Niye'.
