R. D. Bansal was an Indian film producer, worked mainly in the Bengali Film Industry. He had produced nearly 25 films, including Satyajit Ray’s films, Mrinal Sen’s films and Tapan Sinha’s films. He had also received President’s Gold Medal twice and other international awards like the Silver Bear, the Golden Hugo Award and the Golden Head Of Palanque. Some of the well-known films are Nayak, Charulata, Mahanagar, Saat Paanke Bandha, Shashi Babur Sansar and many more. He died in December 2010.
