Becoming the first woman ever to earn a nomination at the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for her work on Mudbound, Rachel Morrison is an American cinematographer. She made her film debut as a cinematographer in 2007 with Palo Alto, CA. Morrison has since then worked on movies like Sound of My Voice (2011), Tim and Eric`s Billion Dollar Movie (2012), Any Day Now (2012), Fruitvale Station (2013), Some Girl(s) (2013), Can`t Come Out to Play (2013), Little Accidents (2014), Druid Peak (2014), Cake (2014) and Dope (2015). She has also worked on TV shows like The Hills (2006-2010), The Conversation (2012- ) and Oprah`s Master Class (2011- ). Morrison`s other works include documentaries like Just an American Boy (2003), Summit on the Summit (2010), Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside (2011) and Life on the Line (2013). She was nominated at the Primetime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program category for her work on What Happened, Miss Simone? (2015).

In 2017 Morrison served as the cinematographer on director Dee Rees` period drama, Mudbound. The movie was nominated for four Academy Awards, one of them being the Best Achievement in Cinematography for Morrison. She was also nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Theatrical Releases at the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) awards. Morrison won the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) Award for Best Cinematographer in 2015 for Mudbound. In 2018 Morrison worked on director Ryan Coogler`s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, Black Panther.
