Raj Babbar is a Hindi and Punjabi film actor and politician. After graduating from the National School of Drama, he moved to Mumbai to start his film career. Raj Babbar made his debut in the film Kissa Kursi Ka (1977) and later went on to star in the hit film Insaaf Ka Tarazu (1980) where his performance was highly appreciated by the critics. He is best known for his performances in the films Hum Paanch (1980), Prem Geet (1981), Umrao Jaan (1981), Nikaah (1982), Daulat (1982), Mazdoor (1983), Aaj Ki Aawaz (1984), Shapath (1984), and Angaarey (1986). Babbar also achieved success in Punjabi cinema for his remarkable performance in the art-house films Marhi Da Deeva (1989) and Long Da Lishkara (1986).
