About
Predominantly associated with the Tamil film industry, Rajasekhar was one of the most successful directors that Tamil cinema had seen in the 80s with most of his movies featuring either Rajnikanth or Kamal Haasan. He debuted in 1980 with the Kannada horror film Hunnimeya Rathriyalli, which was remade in Telugu and Hindi as Punnami Naagu and Jeene Ki Arzoo respectively. He made his Tamil film debut in 1981 with the movie Kanneer Pookkal, following which he directed a string of successful Tamil movies such as Malaiyoor Mambattiyan, Thambikku Entha Ooru, Eetti, Padikkadavan, and Kaakki Sattai, most of which saw the silver jubilee run at the box office.

He also directed action-adventure film Vikram in 1986, which was the first Tamil movie to have a 1 crore budget at that time and was also the first Indian movie to use computers for recording songs. The celebrated director had other movies such as Murattu Karangal, Lakshmi Vandhachu, Kazhugumalai Kallan, Paatti Sollai Thattathe, and Karunguyil Kundram to his credit. However, he passed away in an accident soon after the release of his last movie Dharma Durai in 1991.
