After assisting Rajiv Menon on movies like Morning Raga, Guru, and Kadal, Rajavel Olhiveeran, who also goes by the name Rajavel Mohan, made his debut as a cinematographer in 2005 with the movie By The People. He then went on to work on a string of movies and has Aacharya, Sila Nerangalil, Aadu Puli, Ponmaalai Pozhudhu, Nedunchalai, Kanchana 2, and Padaiveeran. His 2019 release includes Neeya 2, directed by L. Suresh.
