Rakshit Shetty started out as an actor, but has since got into writing and directing as well. He primarily works in Kannada movies. He made his debut in Nam Areal Ondina (2010), but his first success was the romantic comedy Simple Agi Ondh Love Story (2013).

Shetty is not afraid of experimenting. He has been praised for his new and unique approach to cinema, despite having no prior experience. He worked as an engineer for two years and worked on some short films before venturing into the film industry. In the crime drama Ulidavaru Kandanthe (2014), his directorial debut, Shetty used a non linear storyline. He claimed he wanted his audience to think and connect the dots. The film earned him a national award for its direction (2015). Kirik Party (2016), which he wrote and produced, is one of the highest grossing films in Kannada film industry.

Shetty`s ability to play different characters is unparalleled. His latest roles include a college student in Kirik Party (2016), a witty police officer in Avane Srimannarayana (2019), and an unhappy and lonely protagonist in 777 Charlie (2019) and Avane Srimannarayana (ASN) (2020). His other notable works include 777 Charlie (2022), Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (2022) and Richard Anthony (2023).
