An Indian TV and film actor, Ram Kapoor is famous for essaying the role of Ram Kapoor in Ekta Kapoor`s TV serial Bade Achhe Lagte Hai. He has also appeared in Hindi films like Moonsoon Wedding,
Student of the Year and
Lakshmi.Early LifeBorn into a Punjabi family from Jalandhar, Punjab, Ram did a part of his schooling at the Shwerwood College, Nanital and later joined Kodikinal International School in Tamil Nadu, India. After participating in a lot of plays in school and under the guidance of his mentor, Amir Raza Hussein Kapoor, he found out his love and passion for acting and soon decided to take acting as his career path. He went to Los Angeles, USA to study film making but ended up joining Stanislavski Acting Academy instead.
Personal LifeRam Kapoor met Gautami Gadgil on the sets of Ghar Ek Mandir. Gautami played the role of Ram`s bhabhi or sister-in-law, who in a reversal of fortune becomes his wife. Thier on screen chemistry led to their off screen romance and the couple got married on Valentine`s day, 14th February 2003. They have two children- a daughter, Sia and a son, Aks.
Television CareerRam Kapoor started his televison career with Sudhir Mishra`s Nyay in 1997. The series got a very average response and Ram then went on to appear in shows like Heena and Sangharsh, which were also averagely received by the audience. In the year 2000, Ram Kapoor signed up for `Ghar Ek Mandir`, which aired on Sony India. However, it was the role of Jai Walia in Kasamh Se which got him instant recognition and made him the kingpin of Indian TV. The show which aired for three years also had Prachi Desai as the lead. In 2009, Ram also took part in two of the biggest reality shows in India: He appeared as the host in `Rakhi Ka Swayamwar` and as a participant in `Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa`.
He then starred in Ekta Kapoor`s Bade Accha Lagte Hai, opposite Sakshi Tanwar, in 2009. For the portrayal of their characters both received the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award while Ekta Kapoor received the Best Producer award.
