About
Born into a family of Egyptian immigrants, Rami Malek is an American actor who began his career with a guest-starring role in Gilmore Girls in 2004. The blink-and-you-miss role did not do much for his career until he appeared in the war drama Over There (2005), which helped him gain a Screen Actors Guild card. He made his debut in Hollywood in a recurring role as Pharaoh Ahkmenrah in the Night at the Museum trilogy starring Ben Stiller. It was not until his portrayal of Corporal Merriell "Snafu" Shelton on the Emmy Award-winning mini-series The Pacific (2010), that he was noticed for his acting prowess by veteran actor Tom Hanks, who was acting as an executive producer for the same.

He was cast in Larry Crowne (2011), and went on to play supporting roles in several major films which included The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 2 (2012), Battleship (2012), The Master (2012), among others. The year 2015 was a turning point in Malek`s career as he portrayed the lead role of a computer hacker in Mr Robot. His stellar performance earned him a Critics` Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He then starred in the 2016 mystery film Buster`s Mal Heart, where he played his first lead role in a movie. As of 2018, he is starring as Louis Dega in Papillon, and portraying the legendary singer Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. His 2021 release includes The Little Things.
