Following in the footsteps of some of the greatest jazz drummers the world has ever known, including Tony Williams, Narada Michael Walden and Billy Cobham (to name a few), Ranjit`s performances with John McLaughlin brings his innovative interpretation and integration of the rich cultural heritage of Indian drumming with Jazz to the delight of fans the world over - in Europe, USA and South-East Asia. His skill and individuality have led him to performances with some of India`s most noted artists - Ustad Zakir Hussain, mandolin legend U. Srinivas, violin maestro L. Subramaniam, Hindustani slide-guitar master exponent Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, sarangi legend Sultan Khan saab, Ghattam maestro Pandit `Vikku` Vinayakaram, and with Jazz legend Louis Banks, to name a few. He also worked as the musical director for many of the Oscar-winning composer, A.R. Rahman`s live concerts. His 2021 release includes 99 Songs, directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy.
