Model-turned-actor, Rati Agnihotri shot to fame as a 16-year-old with the Tamil film Puthiya Vaarpugal (1979). Becoming an overnight sensation with her performance, Rati, in the same year, went on to appear in her second film Niram Maaratha Pookkal (1979). Despite being a Punjabi, the actress won the hearts of the Tamilian audience and went on to appear in 32 films (including Telugu and Kannada) in a span of three years.
In 1981, Rati made her Bollywood debut alongside Kamal Hassan with the blockbuster movie Ek Duje Ke Liye. The movie went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema and the actress went on to star in movies such as Farz Aur Kanoon (1982), Coolie (1983), Tawaif (1985), and Hukumat (1987). However, after achieving stardom in the Hindi film industry, Rati decided to quit films after the birth of her son Tarun and only returned to the silver screen 16 years later in 2001 - starring in the movie Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi.
She has since then appeared in films such as Yaadein
