Richard Schiff is an American film and television actor and comedian. He has appeared in around 70 films and several television shows in a career spanning over three decades, and is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Toby Ziegler in the political drama series The West Wing. Schiff started off by playing minor roles in television shows like Cheers and Tales from the Crypt, and films like Medium Straight (1988) and Young Guns II: Blaze of Glory (1990). His performance in the 1996 series High Incident, caught the attention of Steven Spielberg, who subsequently cast him in the sci-fi adventure blockbuster film The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). Following this, the actor started appearing in more prominent roles in both films and television, and his performance in The West Wing earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2000. Notable film credits since include I am Sam (2001), Last Chance Harvey (2008), Man of Steel (2013), Kill the Messenger (2014) and Geostorm (2017). Other significant television credits include Entourage, Eli Stone, The Mindy Project, House of Lies and The Good Doctor.
