Associate professor at the Cotton College, Guwahati, Assam, Rita Chowdhury is a poet, novelist and Sahitya Akademi Award recipient in the world of Assamese literature. She has written a number of novels, one of which is adapted into a movie titled Antareen in 2017. The Assamese movie adaptation stars Urmila Mahanta, Arun Nath, and Boloram Das in pivotal roles.
