Known both for her work in American and Indian cinema, Rita Powers has served in or helmed the casting department of several popular movies over the years. The Ryan Gosling starrer Half Nelson (2006), the crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) and the sci-fi romantic drama I Origins (2014) are some of her notable movie credits in Hollywood.

In Indian cinema, Rita has served as a casting director in several Bollywood and Tollywood movies, notable among which are Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), English Vinglish (2012) and Dhoom: 3 (2013). More recently, she was associated with the Telugu romantic comedy Chal Mohan Ranga (2018), the Bollywood movie Sanju (2018) and the Mahesh Babu starrer Maharshi (2019).
