Robert Farnon, born on July 24, 1917 Toronto, Ontario, was a composer and trumpet player known as one of the foremost composers of light music. He wrote music for forty motion pictures, including Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. Gentlemen Marry Brunettes and Bear Island. He also arranged and conducted several albums such as Lena: A New Album and Sinatra Sings Great Songs from Great Britain. His last composition was The Gaels: An American Wind Symphony. He died at age of eighty seven, on April 23, 2005.
