American filmmaker Robert Rodriguez who was associated with the Mexican film industry and directed his debut feature film in 1992 named El Mariachi. Shortly after, he directed two sequels of the same, Desperado (1995) and Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), which comprised the Mariachi Trilogy. The year 2001, saw Rodriguez direct his first Hollywood hit Spy Kids (2001), after which he also became a part of the sequels Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams (2002), Spy Kids 3: Game Over (2003) and Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World (2011). His other notable directorial and screenplay credits include The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D (2005), Machete (2010), and 100 Years (2015), among others. As of 2019, he is directing and writing Alita: Battle Angel which is based on the Yukito Kishiro's manga Gunnm.
