Considered as one of the first mimicry artists of the Tamil film industry Rocket Ramanathan made his debut with the film Sparisam in 1982. Apart from having a strong on-screen presence, he was actively involved in theatre. Honoured with the Kalaimamani Award and Kalaiselvan Award by the State government, he is credited with paving the way for mimicry artists in the Tamil film industry and has acted alongside superstars like Kamal Haasan and Vijayakanth Manakanakku. The actor tragically breathed his last at the age of 74.
