Rohan Mapusskar is an Indian filmmaker, writer-director, creative producer, and casting pioneer working across Hindi and Marathi cinema. He made his writing and directing debut with the Marathi coming-of-age film April May 99, set in 1999 in his hometown of Shrivardhan. The film was widely appreciated by both audiences and critics for its nostalgic portrayal of small-town friendships, aspirations, and youth. He is now set to direct an upcoming Marathi film produced by Ashutosh Gowariker-marking Ashutosh's first Marathi film as a producer.
Born in Shrivardhan, Maharashtra, Mapusskar began his journey in cinema as a trainee assistant director on Lage Raho Munna Bhai under Rajkumar Hirani. He later assisted him and contributed to casting on the acclaimed 3 Idiots.
In 2012, he founded Rohan Mapusskar Casting, helping introduce structured and professional casting practices in Marathi cinema. Over the years, he has cast and discovered fresh talent across numerous Hindi and Marathi projects. His notable casting credits include Ferrari Ki Sawari, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Island City, Panipat and the web series Breathe, among others.
His notable casting work in Marathi cinema includes Ventilator (also as associate director), Hirkani, Thackeray, Half Ticket, Ved, Aatmapamphlet, Vaalvi, Unaad, June, Teen Payancha Ghoda, Bardo, Gharat Ganpati and Raavsaheb, among several others.
