Sri Latha Reddy, who is best known by her stage name Roja Selvamani, is a renowned South Indian actress and politician. A trained Kuchipudi dancer, Roja has been an active part of the Tamil and Telugu film industries alike. She made her debut with the Telugu movie Sarpayagam in 1991, and made her Tamil debut the very next year with the movie Chembaruthi. She also seldom made appearances in Malayalam and Kannada movies with Gangothri (1997) and Gadibidi Ganda (1993) marking her respective debuts.
In a career spanning over two decades, Roja has appeared in several movies, some of which are Suriyan, Prema Thapassu, Uzhaippali, Veera, Bhairava Dweepam, Shubhalagnam, Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen, Arasu, Parijatham, Shambo Shiva Shambo, Golimar, Mogudu, Kodipunju, Veera, Kaavalan, and Saguni. Meanwhile, Roja also pursued her political career and was first associated with the Telugu Desam Party, where she was the wing president of Telugu Mahila. However, she quit TDP and joined Congress in 2009, after which she joined the YSR Congress Party, where she contested from the Nagari constituency in 2014, winning the election.
