Rue McClanahan was an American actress, best known for her role as Blanche Devereaux on TV series “The Golden Girls”. She made her professional stage debut at Pennsylvania's Erie Playhouse in 1957, in the play “Inherit the Wind”. Her various acting credits are The Fighting Temptations, Starship Troopers and TV series such as Burke's Law and Celebrity Ghost Stories. She won Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for “The Golden Girls” in 1987.
