After being associated with movies such as Political Asylum (2004) and Sajna Ve Sajna (2007) as an assistant director, Rupinder Chahal went on to write the story of the Gurdas Mann, Jonita, Gaurav Kakkar starrer Chak Jawana in 2010, which she also produced. Continuing to remain behind the camera, Rupinder was the associate director of the movies Daddy Cool Munde Fool (2013) and Love Punjab (2016).

In 2017, she wrote the story of the romantic comedy Mubarakan, which features Arjun Kapoor in dual roles cast alongside Ileana D`cruz, Athiya Shetty, and Anil Kapoor. The same year, he co-wrote the story and screenplay of the Kapil Sharma and Ishita Dutta-starrer historical comedy Firangi, which he was also a part of as an associate director. She then wrote the story and screenplay for Puaada (2021) featuring Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa in pivotal roles.
