Saila Kariat began her career as an engineer. She holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering. She always had a passion for cinema and her desire to become a filmmaker led her to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Films from San Jose State. After that, Saila started directing short films and began to write screenplays. Her screenplay 'Minor Gods' was selected as a finalist at the California State University Media Arts Festival. She made her directorial debut with The Valley (2018).
