Actor-turned-filmmaker Sajid Yahiya is perhaps best familiar to the Mollywood audience for his supporting roles in movies like Amen (2013), Bangalore Days (2014) and Double Barrel (2015). He debuted as an actor in the political action thriller Collector (2011), and subsequently appeared in over a dozen films before making his directorial debut with the action-comedy IDI - Inspector Dawood Ibrahim (2016). The film, which starred Jayasurya in the lead role, received mixed to positive reviews upon its release and fared reasonably well at the box office.

Subsequently, Sajid made his sophomore outing as a filmmaker with the comedy Mohanlal (2018), which starred Manju Warrier and Indrajith Sukumaran in the lead roles. His 2019 release includes Happy Sardar, directed by Sudip.
