Samik Roy Choudhury is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and former visual effects artist who works primarily in Bengali cinema. Beginning his career in the visual effects industry, he contributed to several international feature films, including Life of Pi, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, before transitioning to independent filmmaking.
He is known for directing the Bengali films Okiagari (2021), Beline (2024), and Maya Satya Bhram (2026). His directorial feature film Beline (2024) has also won the Filmfare Award for Best Directorial Debut (2025), the Anondolok Puroshkar for Best Film (2025), the Bimal Roy Award for Best Feature Film (2025), and the Indian Cinema Competition Best Director Award at the 21st Asian Film Festival (2025).
