National Film Award-winner, Sandeep Sawant is an Indian filmmaker who works in the Marathi film industry. He made his debut as a director and producer with the National Award-winning movie Shwaas (2004) which was India's official entry to the Oscars. He later went on to make several documentaries for television which were centered on children. However, after his debut movie, Sawant directed his second movie - Nadi Vahate - 13 years later in 2017. The movie starring Poonam Shetgaonkar, Asha Shelar, and Jayant Gadekar, revolves around a group of villagers who fight to save the river Antee from the local politicians profit-making plans.
