Born as Sheru Munshi Khan, Saroo Brierley in an Indian-born Australian businessman who gained popularity when he published his book A Long Way Home. As a child, a five-year-old Sheru, who hails from Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, found himself on a wrong train that led him to Kolkata, resulting in him being lost in a new city. Found and adopted by an Australian couple, his name changed from Sheru to Saroo Brierley and completed his studies from Australia. Upon growing up, he took a trip back to India in search of his mother and his family. In 2014, he published a book, A Long Way Home, accounting his experiences, sparking a lot of buzz in the Indian and Australian media. In 2016, his book was adapted into a movie titled Lion directed by Garth Davis and starring Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, and Dev Patel.
