Shaktipada Rajguru was an eminent Indian novelist and screenwriter and a prominent figure in 20th century Bengali literature. Several of his novels like Meghe Dhaka Tara, Amanush and Anushandhan have been adapted into critically acclaimed Bengali and Hindi films. Besides these, Rajguru also served as a screenwriter for films like Gayak (1987), Antaranga (1988) and Asha-o-Bhalobasha (1989). In a writing career spanning over seven decades, Rajguru wrote over a hundred novels and won the Bibhutibhushan Award for Literary Excellence for his contributions to literature. The celebrated writer passed away in 2014, at the age of 92.
