Considered to be the man who modernised Indian cinema’s dance scene and introducing jazz and contemporary dance forms to the Indian audience, Shiamak Davar is one of the most respected and renowned choreographers in India. Successful Bollywood actors such as Shahid Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, and Varun Dhawan have also trained under Shiamak at his reputed dance company. Davar started his career with Aditya Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai, which won him the National Film Award for Best Choreography at the 45th National Film Awards. Having a distinct and different style of dance, Shiamak and his dance troupe has managed to carve a niche for itself. Some of his other work was seen in Taal, Bunty Aur Babli, Saawariya, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. He has also shared the stage with international artists such as Sting, Bryan Adams and Eddie Grant.

Davar not only choreographs in movies but is also associated with famed award functions such as Filmfare and IIFA. In 2017, he acted in Vikram Phadnis’ directorial debut Hrudayantar, and was also associated with Anurag Basu’s adventure musical Jagga Jasoos, which features Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead.
