A veteran Indian TV and film actor and screenwriter, Shiv Subrahmanyam is best known for playing the role of the I.M. Virani, the industrial tycoon in the Hindi TV series, Mukti Bandhan, which was aired on Colors channel. After completing his education, Shiv started working as an actor in the theater industry and soon found himself writing screenplays for feature films. He has written for several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films like Parinda (1989), 1942: A Love Story (1994), Chameli (2003), Hazaaron Khawaishein Aisi (2005), and Teen Patti (2010).

Apart from his brilliant writing, Shiv has also acted in several Hindi films; having made his debut on the silver screen with Parinda (1989), over the years he has starred in more than 25 films. Some of his other notable film credits as an actor includes Rakshak (1996), Kaminey (2009), Stanley Ka Dabba (2011), That Girl in Yellow Boots (2011), 2 States (2014), Bangistan (2015) and Tu Hi Mera Sunday (2017), a comedy-drama directed by Milind Dhaimade.
