About
One of the most popular musicians in the world, Sia is a singer, songwriter, record producer, music video director and voice artist from Australia. A nine-time Grammy Awards nominee and the winner of several laurels and awards including an MTV Video Music Award, and ARIA Award, Sia is noted for incorporating funk, hip-hop and soul music in her vocals.
Having started her career as a singer with the Adelaide-based jazz band, Crisp in the mid-1990s, she remained with the band for a few years, but after the band dissolved, she released her debut studio album titled 'Only See' in Australia. Following her maiden album, Sia moved to London, England and joined the British band, Zero 7 as the lead vocalist.
The singer got her first major breakthrough in 2000 when she was signed by Sony Music's sub-label Dance Pool and she immediately released her second album, 'Healing Is Difficult' under the label. However, the album did not do well, and Sia expressed her dismay with the label for not promoting the album and she eventually terminated the contract and moved to New York City in 2005, where she went on a tour across the country.
After 2010, the superstar singer took a hiatus from performing and focused on writing songs for other artists; she collaborated with renowned musicians like David Guetta, Rihanna, and FloRida and wrote the lyrics for songs like 'Titanium', 'Diamonds', and 'Wild Ones' respectively, all of which were chartbusters. She made her comeback to performing in 2014 and release her sixth studio album titled 1000 Forms of Fear, which debuted at No 1 in the U.S Billboard 200 and the song Chandelier was rated among the top ten breakthrough singles that year.
Apart from her immensely successful career as a musician, Sia has also worked in films and TV shows. She has lent her voice in the popular TV show South Park. She has also appeared on screen: she played Lorde in the parody song, which was featured in the third episode of the show title 'The Cissy'. The singer-songwriter has also written and/or performed songs in several films including The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), Transparent (2015), Beat Bugs (2016), Star Trek Beyond (2016), Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Peter Rabbit (2018).
