Sivakumar Jayakumar, known mononymously as Siva, is a filmmaker and cinematographer known for his work in Tamil and Telugu cinema. An alumnus of the renowned Adyar Film Institute, he started out as a cinematographer, working in movies like Charlie Chaplin (2002), Nenunnanu (2004) and Boss (2004) early on in his career.
In 2008, Siva made his directorial debut with the Telugu action drama Souryam starring Gopichand Tottempudi. The film was a commercial success, and the filmmaker subsequently ventured in Tamil cinema with the Karthi starrer Siruthai (2011), which in turn was a remake of the Tollywood movie Vikramarkudu (2006). With the success of Siruthai, Siva earned the hitmaker label and his next venture Daruvu - a Telugu fantasy action comedy starring Ravi Teja - was a box office success as well.
In 2014, Siva collaborated for the first time with Kollywood superstar Ajith Kumar in the action film Veeram, which was a runaway success. Since then, the director and actor have collaborated in three more movies in the same genre: Vedalam (2015), Vivegam (2017), Sultan - The Saviour (2018) and Viswasam (2019).
