Before making her foray into the entertainment industry, Smita Gondkar worked at the Disney Cruise Line in the USA and was also a participant in MTV's show Stunt Mania in 2009. A professional stunt biker, Smita was the only girl to reach the semi-finals of the reality show. Making her debut, Smita was cast alongside Vijay Chavan and Bharat Jadhav in Manohar Sarvankar's 2007 movie Mumbaicha Dabewala and has since then been actively associated with the Marathi film industry.

The actress is also remembered for her appearance in the independent song Pappi De Parula, which released in 2016. Mostly seen playing lead roles, Smita has movies such as Ek Krantiveer: Vasudev Balwant Phadke, Wanted Bayko No. 1, Mr & Mrs Unwanted, and Bhay among many others. Her 2018 release includes Sobat. Her 2018 release includes Gadbad Gondhal.
