Silk Smita also known as Vijayalakshmi, was an Indian actress. She predominantly seen working in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages. She had got critical acclamation after her role in Vandichakkaram. She was the most sought after actress during the 1980’s where in a span of 17 years from 1979 to 1996 she did 450 films across all languages. She passed away on 23rd September 1996 at the age of 35.
