Sooni Taraporevala (Sooni), born in 1957 in Mumbai (India), is an Indian screenwriter and photographer. She wrote the screenplays for films like Salaam Bombay, Mississippi Masala, The Namesake, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and many more. Her photographs have been exhibited in several parts of the world, including London`s Tate Modern gallery. Sooni was honored with the Government of India`s prestigious award Padma Shri in 2014 and the National Award for Best Film on Family Values for Little Zizou in 2008.
