The man behind the critically acclaimed 2012 comedy drama film Sundarapandian, director S. R. Prabhakaran debuted with this movie and successfully made his mark in his first film itself. This M. Sasikumar starrer was lauded by critics as a clean family entertainer and got Prabhakaran nominated at the 60th Filmfare Awards South, 2nd South Indian International Movie Awards and 7th Vijay Awards. His next venture, the family drama Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Nayanthara, also was an average hit and was highly appreciated by audiences. His 2017 directorial venture includes the action drama Sathriyan starring Vikram Prabhu and Manjima Mohan in the lead roles.
