Srikanta Acharya primarily sings contemporary Bengali songs reflecting the ethos of his times as well steeped in the rich musical heritage of the past. Srikanta received formal training in Rabindra Sangeet for ten years from Dakshinee. Among his albums of Rabindrasangeet Jibon Chhobi (2004) received the Best Rabindrasangeet Alpha Music Award in 2004. Significantly Srikantas song in Rituparno Ghoshs film Titli fetched him the Best Male Playback BFJA award in 2003 and rendition of a Tagore song for Mrinal Sen`s movie Amar Bhuban fetched him the Anandalok Award for the Best Male Playback Singer in 2004. Recently he played the role of Satyendranath in the movie Kadombori.
