Stephen Merchant is an American writer and actor, is known for his associations with Ricky Gervais. He has started his career by performing stand-up comedy since then he has turned into the films and television. His major breakthrough came with the film The Office in the year 2005, which he won the Primetime Emmy award. His other notable films include Cemetery Junction, The Ricky Gervais Show and Hello Ladies: The Movie. Apart from being an actor, he has also served as a writer, director and producer.
