Steve Conrad is an American screenwriter, filmmaker and producer who is best known for penning the acclaimed biographical drama The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) and the adventure comedy-drama film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013). He first rose to prominence when he sold his maiden screenplay, Wrestling Hemingway, at the young age of 19. It was subsequently made into an acclaimed romantic drama film of the same name in 1993. In 2004, Conrad made his directorial debut with the movie Lawrence Melm, which he also wrote. He has since directed the comedy film The Promotion (2008), which starred John C. Reilly and Seann William Scott in lead roles. Conrad is also credited with creating, writing and directing the acclaimed black comedy-political drama series Patriot which premiered on Amazon in 2015. Other significant writing credits include the comedy-drama The Weather Man (2005), Unfinished Business (2015) and the 2017 drama film Wonder.
