His popular television appearances were in the TV series such as Horace and Pete, Conan, Louie, Almost Perfect, Mad About You, and also movies like Men of Respect, Speechless, The Muse, and Son of the Mask. He was the producer of the TV series Louie. His 2017 movie venture includes The Emoji Movie, an American 3D computer-animated comedy film, under the direction of Tony Leondis, in which Wright voices for the character of Mel Meh.
