Sudhir Mishra is an Indian film director and screenwriter who has made an immense contribution to the film industry with movies like Dharavi, Chameli, among others. He debuted in the film industry as an assistant director and screenwriter in Kundan Shah's classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron in 1983, followed by Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! (1984) and Khamosh (1985).

He made his directorial debut with the film Yeh Woh Manzil To Nahin in 1987, which won the National Film Award for Best First Film of a Director.

His other notable works include films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Dharavi, Main Zinda Hoon, Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, Khoya Khoya Chand, Yeh Saali Zindagi and Inkaar.His film Mehrunissa stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Chitrangada Singh. He has received various accolades like National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues for Main Zinda Hoon, National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for Dharavi in 1992, Filmfare Best Story Award for Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi in 2006, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (French government) France's knighthood - equivalent to the "Sir" title of the British in 2010, Yash Bharti Award by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2015 for his contribution to cinema before he directed Daas Dev in 2018.
