Having made his acting debut in 2004 with the movie Girlfriend, Sumit went on to star in a string of movies directed by Ram Gopal Varma such as Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, Sarkar Raj, and Contract, all of which won him immense praise and acclaim for his performance. His other noteworthy performance came with his portrayal of Sarfaraz in the crime thriller Jannat 2. His other movies include Jism 2, Dishkiyaaoon, Raja Natwarlal, and Begum Jaan.
