Sunit Tandon has been news and current affairs anchor on Doordarshan and Lok Sabha Television and a radio broadcaster on All India Radio. He has worked with theatre groups Yatrik, Stagedoor, Masque, Chingari, Scene Stealers, TAG, Primetime, Teamwork, Natwa, Akshara Theatre, Katyayani Productions, Miran Productions and with the Shakespeare Society, St. Stephen's College. He has acted in plays directed by Joy Michael, Marcus Murch, Bhaskar Ghose, Kusum Haidar, Mohan Mehrishi, Bhanu Bharati, Ranjit Kapoor, K. Madavane, Gopal Sharman & Jalabala Vaidya and Feisal Alkazi. For several years he was director of Yatrik, the oldest theatre group in the capital. He has acted in over 200 plays and has directed more than 30 plays, including works by William Shakespeare, Jean Racine, George Bernard Shaw, Noel Coward, Neil Simon and Tom Stoppard. He directed a landmark production of 9 Jakhoo Hill by Gurcharan Das for Yatrik (selected as one of the Ten Best Plays of the Year 1996 by the Times of India and as Pick of the Festival at the Grahamstown Arts Festival, South Africa). For the Shakespeare Society, St. Stephens College, he directed You Never Can Tell, The Merry Wives of Windsor, A Midsummer Nights Dream and The Real Inspector Hound. He also directed Phaedra by Jean Racine and Come as You Were by Nicholas Kharkongor for Yatrik, and Full Circle for Akshara Theatre. He did the stage direction for productions of classical opera La Vida Breve by Manuel de Falla, the operetta El Nio Judio, and a grand Opera Gala at the Royal Opera House, Mumbai for The Neemrana Music Foundation. His film roles include Dil Bechara directed by Mukesh Chhabra, Axone directed by Nicholas Kharkongor, Ghost Stories directed by Karan Johar, Bell Bottom directed by Ranjit Tiwari. He is the current President of the Delhi Music Society, the oldest society devoted to the teaching, appreciation and promotion of western classical music, and which runs the Delhi School of Music.
