A popular actress in the Punjabi film industry, Sunita Dhir made her debut on the silver screen with Chann Pardesee (1980) where she played a supporting role. After her maiden film, Sunita was from the film industry for about 10 years before she eventually made her comeback with Visakhi (1991). Her other notable films include Lalkara Jatti Da (1992), Yaraan Naal Baharaan (2005), Dil Apna Punjabi (2006), Munde U.K. De: British by Right Punjabi by Heart (2009), I Am Singh (2011), Fateh (2014), Police in Pollywood (2014), I Love Desi (2015) and Toofan Singh (2017), which is directed by Baghal Singh.

In 2018, she appeared alongside Preet Baath and Yograj Singh in Kavi Raz`s Punjabi drama Kande. Her 2019 release includes Rabb Da Radio 2.
