Entering the industry in 1950 as an assistant director with Palletoori Pilla, Tapi Chanakya is an Indian writer and director, who worked in the Telugu, Tamil and Hindi film industries. Chanakya was the son of the famous writer Dharma Rao Tapi. He debuted with the film Anta Manavalle as director in the year 1954. But it was the 1955 movie, Rojulu Marayi that put Chanakya in the big leagues. Since then he went on to direct movies like Kalasivunte Kaladu Sukham (1961), Ramudu Bheemudu (1964), Enga Veetu Pillai (1965), C.I.D (1965), Naan Anaittal (1966), Pudhiya Bhoomi (1968), Oli Vilakku (1968), Homaye saadat (1971) and Ganga Manga (1973). Chanakya also worked on Hindi movies like Ram Aur Shyam (1967), Subha-O-Sham (1971), Man Mandir (1971), Bikhare Moti (1971) and Jaanwar Aur Insaan (1972). Chanakya passed in 1973.
