Tamil actor Sulile Kumar, who is better known by his stage name Tarun Shatriya, made his debut in a supporting role in the 2008 movie Kalaai. The director of Kalaai, Tarun Gopi, suggested that Sulile adopt the stage name, and has since then been credited by that name. Post his debut, he went on to play the lead antagonist in a string of movies such as Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravu, Nagaram, and Markandeyan only to be a part of the romantic comedy Padam Parthu Kaadhal Sol. Making his Kannada film debut, Tarun featured in the Marikondavaru, playing the role of the award-winning novelist Devanura Mahadeva. His 2017 projects include the horror film Dora, and the period action drama Kalathur Gramam, co-starring Yagna Shetty, and G Kishore Kumar.
