A veteran TV and film actor in Bollywood, Tej Sapru is known for playing mostly supporting and villainous roles. The son of yesteryear actors, D.K. Sapru and Hemvati, Tej in his illustrious career spanning over 30 years has acted in more than 190 films and 50 TV series`. Some of his most popular films include Insaaf Main Karoonga (1985), Tridev (1989), Mohra (1994), Gupt (1997), Khatron Ke Khiladi (2001), Alag (2006) and Rangeelay (2013). His 2018 release includes YD Family, a Gujarati comedy-drama directed by Yash Shreedatt Vyas.

Apart from films, Tej Sapru has also worked extensively in the TV industry. Some of his popular TV appearances include Qubool Hai, Saat Phere, Chandragupta Maurya and Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.
