A man of many talents, Terry Alan Crews is beloved by one and all, both for his achievements as an actor and an NFL athlete. He is perhaps best known to the international audience for portraying Hale Caesar in The Expendables film series, and for his work in shows like Everybody Hates Chris (2005-09), Are We There Yet (2010-13) and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-).
Following a six-year stint as a linebacker and defensive end with teams like Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins in the NFL, Crews ventured into acting in the late 1990s through syndicated game show Battle Dome. In 2000, he made his feature film debut with a minor role in the sci-fi action movie The 6th Day, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role. The actor got his first big break when he essayed the role of Damon Pearly in the stoner comedy Friday After Next (2002), and subsequently rose to prominence courtesy of his performances in comedies like White Chicks (2004), The Longest Yard (2005) and Idiocracy (2006).
In the years that followed, Crews gained wider popularity after venturing into television through comedic roles in popular shows like Everybody Hates Chris, Are We There Yet and Arrested Development. His work in the immensely successful ensemble action film franchise underlined that Crews' talents extend beyond comedy, and he has reprised the character of Hale Caesar in all three films of the series. Besides these, Crews has also ventured into voice acting through the animated sci-fi action adventure comedy Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013), for which he received an Annie Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Voice Acting.
