German cinematographer Tobias Schliessler began his showbiz journey in Canadian cinema, making his debut with the 1984 feature My Kind of Town. A frequent collaborator of filmmakers like Bill Condon and Peter Berg, Schliessler has since helmed the camera for over 25 movies and several TV shows. Some of his best known works include the sports drama Friday Night Lights (2004), the romantic musical drama Dreamgirls (2006), the superhero film Hancock (2008) and the biographical war thriller Lone Survivor (2013). His work in Dreamgirls (2006) Schliessler an Online Film & Television Association Award nomination for Best Cinematography in 2007.

Other notable works in recent times include the mystery film Mr. Holmes (2015), the musical romantic fantasy Beauty and the Beast (2017) and the sci-fi fantasy adventure A Wrinkle in Time (2018). His 2019 release includes The Good Liar.
