South African-born Australian singer, Troye Sivan gained popularity after he became an internet sensation through YouTube and performing in Australian talent shows. The young singer who often has LGBTQ representation in his music, started his musical career in 2006. A rapid growth in his career resulted in him singing with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian as well as reaching the finals of StarSearch 2007. Later, in August 2014, Sivan released his his debut album TRXYE which went on to become No. 1 on iTunes in over 55 countries. Sivan made his debut as an actor in a production of Oliver! At Regal Theatre in 2007, and was subsequently cast in West Australian short film, Betrand the Terrible in 2008.

He quickly climbed the ranks, like his music career and essayed the role of a young James Howlett in the 2008 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, replacing Kodi Smit McPhee who could not do the film due to unavailability of dates. He featured in the 2010 film Spud which won six SAFTAs, including a nomination in the Best Lead Actor in a Feature Film category. Sivan also reprised his role in Spud 2: The Madness Continues (2013) and Spud 3: Learning to Fly (2014). As of 2018, he is associated with Boy Erased, a film based on the premise of gay conversion.
