Ustad Dilshad Khan belongs to Sikhar Gharana of music, that has given several stalwarts to Indian classical music. He is the ninth generation to take up Sarangi in his family, after his great grandfather Ustad Azim Khan shaab was a court musician at Sikar Rajasthan, and his uncle, late Padma Bhushan Ustad Sultan Khan.

Dilshad gave his first performance at the age of 10 at the All India Radio Youth festival in Jodhpur. Today he shares the stage with artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Trilok Gurtu, Ustad Gulam Mustafa Khan, Sivamani, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, Louis bank, Aabida Parveen, Hariharan, Pankaj Udhas, Talat Aziz, Shankar Mahadevan, Pt. Rajan-Sajan Mishra, Fazal Qureshi, Nitin Sawhney, Mickey Heart and many more.

Also a known name in Bollywood, he has played for more than 500 movies like Mohabbatein, Goal, Rockstar, Faltu, Mausam, Guzaarish, Jhoom Bara Bar Jhoom, Kyunki, Red, Tere Naam, Dhobi Ghat just to name few. Ustad Dilshad Khan has played at some of the prestigious music festivals and venues in the world like Savai Gandharva in pune, Saptak in Ahmedabad, Shankar lal music festival in Delhi, Royal Albert Hall, London, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Holland, USA, UAE, Muscat, Behrain etc.
